Mortice & Tenon Joints
All of our shutters are manufactured using Mortice & Tenon Joints where the side stiles of the doors meet the top and bottom rails.
This durable fixing is where a solid piece of wood is formed to produce both the rail and the tenon tongue.
The stile is then formed with a mortice hole and the two slot together.
Mortice & Tenon joints have been in use for thousands of years, however we add a grooved overlap expansion joint to assist with movement.
This form of joining is more durable than using dowls and creates a quality shutter.
