Best Blinds for a Bathroom
The primary concern when it comes to bathroom blinds is exposure to moisture either via direct contact or humidity in the air. There are a wide variety of fabrics designed to cope with this environment, ranging from splash proof fabrics which provide resistance to humidity; through to waterproof fabrics that if required can be placed in direct proximity to a power shower.
It is not uncommon to consider blackout fabrics for a bathroom as these fabrics are often built to be resilient. However we do advise that Blackout Blinds be avoided in the bathroom for health and safety reasons. Keeping your bathroom well lit is a sure fire way to avoid unforeseen accidents.
Roller blinds often have the widest range of available fabrics including those specced for particular environments. However, it is common to find that the plain fabric options are also available in the Vertical Blind selection. Rollers can be placed within the recess however we suggest face fixing your roller to the outside of the recess to allow the free flow of air around your window frames and seal. This will help to prevent the build up of excess damp and eventually mould.
Vertical Blinds are a fantastic option for a bathroom as the louvres can be turned to allow as much or as little privacy and light escapature as you wish. Additionally, the track system is far from bulky and can be made to draw to either side or split in the center and draw back much in the same way as a pair of curtains. This range of draw and tilt options allow you to keep your bathroom well ventilated at all times while still providing privacy as and when it is needed.
Venetian blinds are particularly good for a bathroom as both faux wood and aluminium options are moisture resilient, easily cleaned and offer full privacy and adequate lighting when tilted correctly. Although venetians often look better set into the recess, the main body of the blind can be easily unclipped from the brackets allowing access to the windowsill for cleaning and airing when required.
Shutters are the premium standard window dressing that will offer all the utility of the blinds mentioned above and more. You will even find that there are ranges that offer waterproofed materials specifically made for bathroom shutters. There are so many options for shutter configurations that we recommend speaking to one of our experts who will be able to guide you through finding the best fit for your needs.
